The Whispering Pines is a Bed and Breakfast experience nestled among the pines in the heart of Surry County. Whispering Pines offers a delightful farmhouse breakfast, featuring specialties from the local area like "Just for Kicks" Muffins, Edwards Ham biscuits, honey, and seasonal fruits from the farmers market. Experience the charm of farm life living in our charming dining room featuring a cozy sitting nook and fireplace. Sit a spell around the table and enjoy a nice cup of coffee or tea, catch up with family, chat with a new friend, or simply enjoy the morning news.
Enjoy free wifi will be available while you visit so you can keep up with all things of necessity in the virtual world. Passwords and access will be provided during check-in.
Gardens and Patio Areas
Seasonally you just might catch a glimpse of flittering butterfly wings, hear the buzz of a hummingbird's wings, or smell the sweet scent of lavender. Whispering Pines has an array of garden areas featuring a butterfly garden and herb garden, with a host of other garden spots to sit and enjoy. In the cool of the evening enjoy sitting around the fire pit as you watch for the glimpse of a shooting star or a firefly as it twinkles across the sky.
Fresh towels will be supplied as needed and daily housekeeping will be available upon request to ensure your privacy. Let us know how we can enhance the quality of your visit.
The library is a quaint little spot filled with sunlight, the perfect place to enjoy a little bit of history, pause for a bit and relax, read a good book, pull the shades and watch a funny movie, or play a board game. There will always be a puzzle in the works, so feel free to jump right in and find a piece or two. Write a note in our guest journal to tell us about your stay, we are so glad you stopped by and we welcome your suggestions and comments.
Each afternoon there will be beverages and snacks provided in the dining room, grab a cup of tea, your favorite soda , or "Big Mama's" Special House Tea. Find a cozy spot to relax and enjoy the day. Outdoor sitting areas will be available for you to enjoy as well.
THINGS TO DO
Stroll through Colonial Williamsburg as you step back into a time when America was forming and breath in what it must have been like to be part of the building of a new nation. Take some time to visit the shops with their various wares, learn from the master craftsmen along the way or listen to stories as told by those who walked along the colonial streets in days that have passed. Feel as if you stepped back into a history book in Historic Jamestown as you experience what it must have been like to have life as you knew it threatened by white settlers from a faraway land.
Nature at its Best
Drive through the country side, enjoy a picnic along the river's edge or hike through Chippokes Plantation State Park, experience a variety of opportunities to catch glimpse of a large variety of wildlife. Visit Jamestown Beach, Yorktown Beach, Buckroe Beach and Park, or the infamous Virginia Beach each with a slightly different aspect of ocean life. Cast a fishing pole on ________ pier, take a pirate cruise , watch the dolphins play and enjoy the ferry ride as you watch the sun set on a wonderful day.
What better way to experience the local flair than by visiting one of our farmer's market with a variety of vendors representing the local products, seasonal produce, and homemade goodies that define the true character of our local communities. Take home a jar of local honey or homemade preserves; pause and smell the wonders, stroll down the Duke of Gloucester or Smithfield's Main Street, take in the beauty of preserved moments in time. Back in Surry visit the Just for Kicks Cupcake Shop or grab a ham biscuit at the Edwards Ham shop.
